AN INTRODUCTION

5Ways Soccer is a Brighton-based football coaching company that provides a whole range of football activities and challenges for children living in the Brighton and Hove area. The activities we run include a regular Saturday Soccer School at Varndean College, Sunday Team football through Withdean Youth FC,  Birthday Parties and Holiday Football Courses.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

5Ways Soccer prides itself on it’s family friendly atmosphere. For our younger children attending the Saturday Soccer School we offer gentle and professional, age appropriate coaching in an environment of positive encouragement.  We believe that every child has the right to enjoy playing The Beautiful Game.

ZF-4584-86523-1-011At Saturday Soccer School, our unique, flexible coaching structure is designed to allow all children to get everything they can out of the sessions.  Whilst slower developers have the opportunity to play with children of similar ability, those who want a stiffer challenge can find it in the advanced groups. Where possible we will try to keep friends together and allow children to enjoy being coached in a fun and pressure free environment.

As children get older and graduate up through the 9-a-side and 11-a-side formats of the game they will begin attending our 5Ways Advanced Sessions where we start relating the training sessions to the demands of the larger-sided formats of the game and begin grouping children based on ability and Sunday team involvement.  This system allows us to form groups where all involved are of a similar playing level. Experienced players will therefore always be challenged and players with less experience will be given a more forgiving environment in which to continue enjoying football.

THE 5WAYS DEVELOPMENT MODEL

There is more to our name than a road junction in Brighton! So what are the “5 Ways” that we teach football to children?

5Ways Soccer Player Development Model

  1. Create the right Environment (fun, friends and the correct level of challenge for each individual)
  2. Focus on Technical Development from an early age (encouraging silky skills, footwork and creativity)
  3. Ensure a firm grounding in the Tactical side of football but not at the expense of technical development (Don’t listen to the calls to “get rid of it” instead let’s learn how to support one another and play out from the back properly!)
  4. Put a strong emphasis on understanding the Personal needs of each individual child. (We recognise that every child learns differently and improves at different parts of the game at different speeds)
  5. Give children the opportunity to Take It To The Game and put what they have learnt to practice in a variety of competitive match situations. (Inter-School Tournaments, Withdean Youth Sunday League Teams and in-group matchplay give children the opportunity to practice their skills in more competitive environments).

THE LOCATION (for Saturday Soccer and 5Ways Academy)

With picturesque views over Brighton and large playing fields, Varndean College provides the ideal location for parents to come and watch as their children learn about the game.  The sociable nature of our school means both parents and children will have the opportunity to meet new people and make friends as they progress through the age groups.

The Venue has lots of on site parking, toilets and changing facilities and a tea and coffee stand serving home-made cakes and bacon sarnies. The Saturday Soccer Sessions take place on the pitches directly below the college whilst the 5Ways Advanced sessions take place on the top pitches accessible via the steps near the tea and coffee stand.

All coaches are DBS checked and all lead coaches hold FA coaching qualifications.  Qualified first aiders will be present at all times throughout the course.  Children will have regular breaks for water, snacks and lunch. 5Ways Soccer has full public liability insurance.
